Music and theatre in Austria
Culture and casino holiday
If you love fine arts there is no way around Austria. There is hardly any country that has produced more composers, writers, poets and artists than the former Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. A heritage that is still kept up.

From classical …
Mozart, Schubert, Beethoven, Mahler, Haydn, Brahms, Bruckner, Liszt … they all lived and worked in Austria-Hungary and have sustainably changed music. It's no wonder that they have been influencing the country up to today. From baroque church music to Viennese Classic and Romantic and to the shows by modern composers at the academies of music, a whole great range is available.
… to concerts
It has become obvious that Austria is far more than just Mozart and Schubert. The big cities, with Vienna leading the way, are venues for huge music concerts and present guests like Herbert Grönemeyer, Sting, Lenny Kravitz and many more. The major part, however, is contributed by the club and event culture with regional big shots and international indie bands.
Festivals in Austria
Salzburg isn't the only city with a major festival, although the city of Mozart is of course on one level with the world's elite when it comes to music festivals. The Easter Festival, Whitsun Festival and Salzburg Festival are by far not all: Bregenz Festival (July and August), Tyrol Festival Erl (summer and winter) or Schubertiade in Vorarlberg as well as various smaller classical festivals are quite impressive as well.
Theatre culture, from solo piece to opera
Stefan Zweig, Thomas Bernhardt, Arthur Schnitzler, Joseph Roth, … big names of German-speaking literature that are still performed in Austria – with readings or as plays. Houses of literature, theatres, performance venues and cabarets can be found even in the smallest of cities. You will of course find opera houses, festival halls and musical stages in close vicinity to some of the casinos and hotels.

All that Jazz …
Every city also offers great events for jazz, world music and experimental music. The biggest amongst them is the Jazz-Summer Graz, Jazz over Villach (close to Velden am Wörthersee), the Jazz Fest Wien, Salzburg Jazz Autumn as well as Jazz in der Altstadt and Bregenz Jazz Festival.
Die regionalen Veranstaltungskalender helfen Ihnen dabei zielsicher weiter. Auch im Hotel steht man Ihnen gern mit Geheimtipps zur Verfügung.
The regional event calendar will help you find the right event for you. The team at the hotel will also gladly provide you with insider tips.
